Furthermore, Harris will showcase its fiber optic test devices portable tools for field installations, routine inspection and maintenance of optical telecom and CATV systems, and for testing laboratories and research facilities.Harris solutions enable any broadcast operation to cost-effectively implement an advanced media workflow that manages every stage of the content lifecycle and allow broadcasters to profit from new revenue streams in both traditional and emerging business models.
Harris Predator Multiviewer Software Portable Tools ForHarris equipment also will be demonstrated on two Harris distributor stands (CSS, stand no. A05 and Evertop, stand no. B07). Highlights from the show include the following: TV Transmission Harris will showcase its Maxiva range of compact, environmentally friendly, solid-state multimedia transmitters for UHF broadcasters at virtually every power level. All Harris Maxiva transmitters feature Harris PowerSmart technology for best-in-class power density, efficiency and performance in a compact, environmentally friendly and RoHS-compliant design. Now shipping, this transmitter is available in analogue FM-only, common-amplification (HD Radio analogue) or HD-only, allowing broadcasters to launch HD Radio program streams when ready. DAB Transmission Addressing the growing international need for higher-power Digital Audio Broadcasting and Terrestrial-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting multimedia transmitters, Harris will showcase its DMB 670-4000 transmitter. Harris DMB 670 transmitters are the most compact DAB transmitters in the broadcast industry, and support the delivery of multiplexed Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) digital audio and T-DMB mobile TV channels to mobile, handheld consumer devices. With twice the power, the Harris DMB 670-4000 transmitter retains the same compact, lightweight footprint and energy-efficient, air-cooled design of its predecessor. Fiber Optic Signal Processing Visitors to BIRTV also will see Harris Corporations next-generation range of OPTO fiber optic solutions spanning its signal processing portfolio. The OPTO line includes transmission products in the 6800 core processing platform, the X75 and X85 platforms, Platinum routing switchers and the CENTRIO multisource display processor, as well as optical fiber testing precision test and measurement devices. Harris Predator Multiviewer Software Upgrade Capability ForThe X85 multiple application video and audio processor incorporates a lot of features into its space-saving 1RU frame, including 3 Gbs upgrade capability for a future-proofed infrastructure; optional linear frame rate conversion to convert 59.94 Hz and 50 Hz-based signals; and dual-channel processing for maximum efficiency. OPTO in the X85 allows a direct fiber input andor output to a system to be converted into and out of any signal format. The companys new OPTO in Platinum supports optical transport, allowing direct optical connectivity into and from the router. Featuring user-selectable optical wavelengths, OPTO supports all signals up to 1080p (SD-SDI, HDTV, ASI) to simplify baseband optical transmission and distribution. Test and Measurement At BIRTV, Harris will demonstrate the new Compact Monitor series (CMN-41 and CMN-91) for space-saving and efficient videoaudio signal monitoring. Each model provides a compact half-rack footprint of less than 7 inches depth, two HDSD-SDI inputs with optional 3 Gbs (1080p) capability, one AES input and metering for 16 channels of embedded audio. The TVM-4MA discovers, reports, monitors and triggers alarms on the ancillary data present in an HD or SD-SDI signal. The TVM-4MA is the first analyzer on the market to provide a comprehensive list of the entire ancillary and vertical blanking interval (VBI) data present in an SDI video signal. For advanced monitoring applications, Harris will showcase a 3 Gbs video input module for its Videotek VTM and TVM series of test instruments, enabling monitoring of the new progressively scanned, high frame-rate HD formats, including 1080p. Also 3 Gbs-capable, the new Videotek AVM-717-3GB is a versatile, space-efficient and self-contained test and measurement solution. Harris also will demonstrate the TVM9140PKG-EJ multiformat HDSD-SDI video and audio signal analyzer and the TVM-4DG multiformat HDSD-SDI waveform monitorvectorscope. For portable requirements, the award-winning Videotek STAR handheld test instruments include the HD-STAR HDSD-SDI monitorgenerator, which is well suited to the demands of cable field technicians and now features auto-format detection of HD or SD inputs; the GEN-STAR, which offers HD-SDISD-SDI generation, discrete AES audio output, and genlock capabilities through a reference input; and ASI-STAR, which features transport stream monitoring of DVB-ASI or SMPTE-310M for compliance to ETR-290 priority 1 specifications with error counting.
